African Space is a collaboration between Encounters and Sound Africa. It is a new form of live documentary. The basis of the performance are audio recordings and original interviews with renowned astronomers and townspeople of the Karoo. What they share is proximity to the construction of the unparalleled giant radio telescope, the Square Kilometre Array. The recordings are mixed with live music and original poetry in a unique stage performance. The result is an attempt to create a new and original live experience of documentary storytelling.
